Para. 5.

(a) the reception was given by the solicitors

acting for an accused, as the judge should know.

(b)

The judge admitted at our meeting on Tuesday the 2nd that he had" unwisely discussed the case with people during the trial" not just with counsel.

Page 2 generally. These paragraphs of course represent the Chief Justice's own views.

Page 3, paras. 3 and 4. My views are correctly represented except that his credibility with solicitors too is damaged. I feel strongly that a judge who has lost the confidence of his brother judges and the legal professions should not continue to hold judicial office. I am also concerned with our reputation in the international community.

I say nothing at this stage about the judge's self-confessed alcoholism, which is being treated at present.

c.c. The Honourable Chief Justice

your sincerely
