A vehicle emission testing centre has been in operation in Ho Man Tin since 1 February 1988. Trained volunteer spotters supplement the EPD and police in reporting smoky vehicles, which are then called up by the EPD for examination. If the vehicle fails the test, the owner is required to repair it and re-present it for reexamination. Next year we plan to introduce further measures to reduce polluting emissions from road vehicles.
