convening of another International Conference on Indochina

Refugees early next year and Malaysia's offer to host the Preparatory
Meeting to be held in Kuala Lumpur towards the end of this year.
Vietnam, confident in the cooperative endeavours of all parties
concerned, agreed to participate actively at both Conferences
and contribute to their success. The two sides agreed to consult
with each other to ensure success of these conferences.

The two sides considered that the situation in the world
and in the region is evolving quickly from confrontation to
dialogue.
On Kampuchea, both sides agreed on the need to resolve the
problem urgently. They welcomed the Jakarta Informal Meeting (JIM)
which represents regional efforts in the search for a comprehensive
and durable solution to the problem. They agreed that JIM has
been a positive step forward in that direction. They also agreed
to participate actively in the efforts of the Working Group of
Senior Officials established by JIM and shared the hope that
positive progress could be achieved.
