Background
1. The Hong Kong Government's cattle depot at Ma Tau Kok has
recently been the subject of press attention in Hong Kong as a
result of allegations by the RSPCA of bad conditions in the
depot. Following these allegations, the Hong Kong Agriculture
and Fisheries Department arranged a tour of the depot for the
press, so that they could judge conditions for themselves. Subsequent press reports were generally favourable.
2.
The draft replies to Mr Griffiths' questions have been prepared
on the basis of information provided by the Hong Kong Government.
