Background
1. The Hong Kong Government's cattle depot at Ma Tau Kok has
recently been the subject of press attention in Hong Kong as a
result of allegations by the RSPCA of bad conditions in the
depot. Following these allegations, the Hong Kong Agriculture
and Fisheries Department arranged a tour of the depot for the
press, so that they could judge conditions for themselves. Subsequent press reports were generally favourable.
