IBRD document Sec M88-466, which I copied to you yesterday, notified all World Bank member states that PR China signed the Convention establishing MIGA. Since then I have heard from Washington that PRC actually ratified the Convention on 30 April, thus just qualifying for Original Member status of the Agency and automatically receiving the shareholding allocated to them in the Schedule to the Convention (3,138 shares costing 31.38 million SDR, representing 3.138% of total allocated share capital). This move finally ties up any loose ends regarding Hong Kong's status in relation to MIGA post-1997. Of course I will copy the official notice of PRC's ratification to you once it is received.
