HONG KONG: POSSIBLE DEBATE IN THE COMMONS

I should record that Lord Glenarthur spoke yesterday to Mr George Foulkes MP, who was calling on another matter, about the possibility of a debate on Hong Kong in the House of Commons.

Mr Foulkes argue against having a debate in the near future. said he entirely agreed. He added that Mr Kaufman was inclined to keep Hong Kong as a separate issue for debate rather than include it in a more general Foreign Affairs debate.

Lord Glenarthur did not mention the likelihood that there will be a debate on Hong Kong in the House of Lords on 8 June. But a journalist's enquiry to News Department suggests that Mr Foulkes may have learned of this from Lord Cledwyn, who is likely to be be putting down the motion for the debate (after discussion with us).
Can I assume that you will be giving the PRU a copy of the draft Basic Law for the libraries of the Houses of Parliament?
