JOINT DECLARATION
The House overwhelmingly endorsed Joint
Declaration in 1984.
Today's Debate a further emphatic
endorsement of its aims and underlying
principles.
Even sceptics now convinced that Joint
Declaration an excellent agreement for
Hong Kong, for China, for Britain.
We are
on course to implement it fully
and faithfully.
Joint Declaration much more than a
diplomatic milestone: represents an
active partnership between Britian and
China.
That partnership is working well: that is
the best possible reassurance for Hong
Kong and all those who have a stake in its
future.
