Dear David
Our warmest thanks to you and Natasha for all your kindnesses during our visit this week. As always, one enters Hong Kong with certain trepidation about the dangers and pitfalls that lie strewn so liberally along the path for any visiting Minister. That we successfully (I hope!) avoided them owes a great deal to your benevolent guidance. I was delighted to see at first hand the splendid way in which you both fulfil your viceregal roles. It was immediately apparent how extremely well plugged in you both are to the
local scene.
I look forward very much to seeing you back here in London when you come back on leave.
Elspell, of course, joins in sending
warmest thanks and best withes
노
