Secretary of State's Visit to UNSSD III

attached.

Thank you for your submission of 18 May. The Secretary of State would very much like to have a meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister. He does not regard the New Zealander as a particular priority, but would be happy to see him if there really is time in the programme.

сла

The Secretary of State is grateful to Sir Crispin Tickell for offering to host a dinner. The Secretary of State's strong preference would be to keep this very small (eg. Sir Crispin and Lady Tickell, Miss Solesby, Mr Galsworthy, Mr Meyer and one of two others). This will allow for discussion, if necesary, of the Secretary of State's speech for the following day.

*

We have noted the suggestions in Mr Meyer's minute of 13 May about press handling. As he says, we will need to retain as much flexibility as possible. The one, firm requirement is that the Secretary of State must leave in time to get the Concorde flight home.
