1. The State Opening of Parliament will be held on Tuesday, 22 November.

2. The Lord Great Chamberlain's Office will be sending out invitations and has asked whether we know of any overseas visitors of VIP status who are likely to be in this country over the period of the Opening of Parliament. There is no guarantee that such visitors can be invited to the State Opening, as seating is very limited.

3. Protocol Department will be the co-ordinating department within the FCO and the names of any visiting foreign or commonwealth VIPS (eg Heads of State, Prime Ministers or Foreign Ministers) should be submitted to the Ceremonial Officer, Protocol Department, as soon as possible, and not later than Friday 11 November.
