Finally, the present Building Regulations were enacted in the 1950s when large scale and complex developments were not envisaged, and when present day building technologies and standards, such as central air-conditioning and artificial ventilation, were either non-existent, or if they did exist, were not commonplace. It is therefore time to have the Building
Regulations comprehensively reviewed rather than to have amendments made in a sporadic manner.
