THE BETTING DUTY (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 1983

This Ordinance implements the 1983 Budget proposals relating to increases in betting duties. As the adjustment would otherwise result in awkward fractions, the present wording of the principal Ordinance is amended to express the payouts in a totalizator or Mark VI lottery as a percentage, respectively, of the total bets or gross proceeds, and provision is also made for the percentages to be altered by resolution of the Legislative Council.

Before the Governor assented to the Bill in the name and on behalf of Her Majesty, the Attorney General advised that he could properly do so.
