1. AVIATION SAFETY

Airport and Air Traffic Safety Section

In co-operation with the Airport Management Division, the Section investigated the following incidents:

(a) Fuel spillages

(b) Incidents involving damage to

aircraft and/or ground equipment

(c) Accidents to airport personnel

Five cases of suspected infringement of the Hong Kong Airport (Control of Obstructions) Ordinance were investigated.

Through liaison with appropriate parties, obstruction to the Checkerboard visibility by grass and shrub overgrowth was contained.

2. AIRWORTHINESS AND OPERATIONS SECTION

Flight Operations Inspectorate

72.

The following inspections took place :-

(a) One B747 and I L1011 authorised examiners were observed

performing examination duties in flight.

(b) One B747 authorized examiner was observed performing

examination duties in the simulator.

73.

One B737 authorized examiner for Hong Kong Dragon Airlines was observed performing examination duties in the simulator.

74.

Three B707 authorized examiners of AHK Air Hong Kong (1 for pilot and 2 for flight engineers) were observed performing examination duties in flight. AHK Air Hong Kong continued to make progress toward obtaining an Air Operators' Certificate.

75. Airways.

An Operating Standards Appraisal Programme was conducted on Transcorp

Aircraft Registration

76.

Five aircraft (VR-HOA, VR-HOB, VR-HOC, VR-HOD and VR-HVZ) were registered and another (VR-HJA) was de-registered.
