to be used at the Daya Bay Tuesday, September 8 : The reactors plant and Qinshan nuclear plants in China were safe, according to the director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Dr Hans Blix, some papers reported, quoting an NCNA dispatch from Peking.
Speaking to newsmen after meeting Chinese Premier Zhao Ziyang yesterday in the Chinese capital where he was attending the Sixth Pacific Basin Nuclear Conference, Dr Blix said that the model of pressurised water reactors in the Daya Bay plant was in particular safe as it had been a standard one in use in France.
Commenting on the conference, the New Evening Post said in an editorial that the meeting would give other people a better understanding of the situation at China's nuclear plants.
The paper said that those who still concerned about the Daya Bay plant could now seek reference material direct from the plant authorities or from other countries.
Friday, September 11: China had well-qualified experts on nuclear energy and had attached much importance to the safety aspect, the direct-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Dr Hans Blix, said yesterday.
