Yes.

MR CHEONG: I presume that the uniforms being worn by the Correctional Services personnels are not made-to-measure or are made-

to measure ?

S for S: As I understand it, they are made-to-measure

by the Correctional Services.

CCS: They are stock size uniforms for the majority and

tailor-made for senior staff. Our capacity for tailor-made uniforms is very, very limited because of the skills available.

MR CHEONG: Therefore, Mr Commissioner, your uniform is

tailor-made ?

CCS:

Mine is tailor-made, yes, sir. But with stock size for our own staff, we can provide a limited alteration service. We have tailoring workshops in most institutions so when the men are on parade and their senior officer is not satisfied with their appearance, he can always tell them to send in their uniforms

for alteration.

MR CHEONG:

Has any attempt been made to at least improve upon the pattern-cutting of the various stock sizes or has the

sizes not been altered for, say, five or ten years ?

CCS:

No, for our own staff we did a survey of the whole

staff and their measurements and we make stock sizes to suit our

service and generally they are satisfactory. They could be better.

A made-to-measure outfit is much better.
