INTRODUCTION

1. The COS Strategic Priorities list shows 131 countries in

the 'Rest of the World' area. Each country is judged on 3 levels

of priority (High, Medium, Low) in the 3 categories of Political,

of the UK. The list allows those involved in OOA activities

to assess the priorities of individual countries in the context

of a request or proposal for resources, and to seek approval

or futher direction on particular activities from the 00ACG or

its subgroups.

2.

Priorities may be amended to reflect changes in the

political, military or economic importance attached to particular

countries. Such changes may be relatively frequent in the category

of Defence Sales. Proposals for amendments and thier implications

will be discussed by the 00ACG or its sub-groups.

3. Categories and Priorities are defined as follows:

a.

importance to the foreign policy of the UK (eg Saudi

Arabia).
