4.2.10 A heliport located about 20 km. from the city centre was completed in 1983. It mainly serves the activities associated with cil exploration in the South China Sea.

4.2.11 The construction of a civilian airport in Shenzhen has been under consideration since the beginring of 1982. The proposal was approved by the State Council and the Central Military Commission in early 1987. Amongst all possible sites identified for the airport, the one

Baishizhou is considered to be more suitable.

Feasibility studies are in hand. The results will be submitted to the State Council for approval.
