total nitrate fertilizer factory in Guangzhou with a length of 120 km. is expected to be completed by 1990. Work began this April to construct the Shenzhen section which is about 30 km long. The work is expected to be
completed by the end of 1989.
AIRPORT
4.2.10 A heliport located about 20 km. from the city centre was completed in 1983. It mainly serves the activities associated with cil exploration in the South China Sea.
4.2.11 The construction of a civilian airport in Shenzhen has been under consideration since the beginring of 1982. The proposal was approved by the State Council and the Central Military Commission in early 1987. Amongst all possible sites identified for the airport, the one
Baishizhou is considered to be more suitable.
Feasibility studies are in hand. The results will be submitted to the State Council for approval.
