The presentations giver by officials of the Hong Kong Government covered several topics on development planning, namely, the strategic planning framework, port development, land transport planning, airport development and an overview of the all above.

The development strategy of Hong Kong started with

new towns development programmes some 14 years

ago. In order to examine the strategic options

available and to maintain the impetus of growth for

the next 15 years, a long-term development strategy

which concerns urban renewal and external transport

facilities has been adopted.

Further strategic planning has been the development

of the Outline Works Programme which guides the

Territorial Levelopment Strategy and provides

linkage between long-term strategy and the Pulic

Works Frogramme. It also provides the basis for

co-ordinating all public and private schemes SO as

to ensure maximum benefit to society.
