my re-appointment as Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary,

which was conveyed to me by your Ambassador in London,

His Excellency Mr Hu Dingyi.

I too am very pleased with the excellent relations

which have been established between us, particularly over

Hong Kong questions, and look forward to our continued

co-operation, which I am sure will further strengthen and

deepen those relations.

I would very much like to renew my invitation to you

last year to visit the United Kingdom, and hope that your

many responsibilities may nevertheless allow you to spend

some time here, in the second half of this year.
