MEMORANDUM FOR EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
Employees' Compensation Ordinance
(Chapter 282)
EMPLOYEES' COMPENSATION ORDINANCE (AMENDMENT OF SECOND SCHEDULE) ORDER 1987
Introduction
The purpose of this memorandum is to seek Members' advice as to whether an Order should be made amending the Second Schedule to the Employees' Compensation Ordinance to include tumour of the urinary tract.
Background

Part III of the Employees' Compensation Ordinance, (Chapter 282), provides for compensation in respect of Occupational diseases and the Second Schedule to the Ordinance contains a list of the diseases in respect of which compensation is payable. If an employee suffers incapacity or dies as a result of an occupational disease prescribed in the Second Schedule and if he was previously employed for a period and in a trade or industry specified in the Second Schedule, he is presumed to have contracted the disease as a result of his employment and becomes eligible for compensation. A total of 34 Occupational diseases are listed in the Second Schedule.
