The visitors found this fascinating, and insisted on taking plenty more photographs of colleagues lounging on four-poster beds and sitting in front of roaring fires.

Because the photography sessions had taken so long, there was no time for a tour of the cathedral in Durham. However, we did take a walk along the river to view the cathedral and castle from a distance, and the party had a few minutes for some shopping. They bought a number of items, declaring that they were saving money hand over fist on Hong Kong prices. bought an overcoat, closely followed by several other members of the party, from which he proudly refused to remove the 'Made in Great Britain' label, despite wishing to wear the coat for the rest of the day!

Mr Lou

After lunch, it only remained for us to take the plane back down to London. This, however, proved more difficult than it seemed, due to delays caused by fog at Heathrow. As a result, the visitors unfortunately arrived a little late for the return match dinner which they were hosting that evening in Chinatown. However, we were able to telephone ahead to inform the Hong Kong Government Office, so that no appreciable harm was done.

CONCLUSION

The Delegation enjoyed their visit to Newcastle, and were pleased with the opportunity to combine some sightseeing with business appointments.
