British Nationals (Overseas)
The FCO sent a Note on 30 September to all diplomatic missions in London explaining the main provisions of the Hong Kong (British Nationality) Order 1986. A copy of that Note, and some further explanatory notes are attached.
ritain hopes and expects that the Indian immigration Authorities will afford the same facilities for access and travel to India for BN (0)s as are currently available for Hong Kong British Dependent Territory citizens (BDTCs).
BN(0)s will have exactly the same returnability to Hong Kong (both before and after 1997) as BDTCs from the territory have now. This has been greed with the Chinese Government.
We should be grateful if you could inform the appropriate Indian authorities about the new category of British nationality,
ie British National (Overseas).
