RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE BROADCASTING REVIEW BOARD

(L/M (2) to ASIB/I 1245C)

The Council considered memorandum XCC (86) 122.

The Council ADVISED and the Governor ORDERED:

(a) that the existing

television

pattern

of

licensees,

each

operating one Chinese and one English language service should

continue for the time being

(paragraph 11 of the memorandum)

and that the educational value

of English language services

should be emphasised;

(b) that RTHK should continue to

utilize

air

time

on

the

commercial services rather than

be allocated a separate service

(paragraph 11 of the memorandum);

(c) that the Administration should

invite

expressions of

interest

from potential cable television
