The Police do visit schools and give talks
and lectures both to pupils and teachers on juvenile
crime including triads, and school social also assist
in this respect.

The public considers that more should be done specifically against triads. To strengthen the existing effort, the Government intends to develop curricular material specifically to tackle the triad
problem as it affects youngsters. This is not an
easy task as a balance must be found to ensure that
an erroneous impression of glamour, mystique or strength is not given when describing triads. It is
intended that this material be developed by an appropriately composed ad hoc working group and be examined by the Standing Committee on Young Offenders (YOSC), which is a sub group of the Fight Crime Committee. The YOSC has recently been formed from
its fore-runner, the Working Group on Youth, which
has recommended changes in the way that young
offenders are dealt with by Correctional Services
Department (CSD) and Social Welfare Department (SWD)
see rehabilitation below. YOSC has unofficial
members, representatives from the Police, ED, SWD, CSD and others who will be able to bring their knowledge and expertise to bear on this difficult
subject.
