These options were strongly supported by the public and do not require any legislative amendments;
(b)
those which will be taken forward as
soon as is practicable
(i)
the introduction of one-way
(ii)
viewers for identification
parades in a restricted number of
particularly sensitive cases
(paragraphs 4.11 to 4.14 of the
document);
increasing those fines under the
Societies Ordinance, Cap 151
which are associated with triad
society membership or activity
(paragraph 5.10 of the document);
(iii) the introduction of a scheme of
renunciation of triad membership (paragraphs 5.44 to 5.49 of the
document);
(iv) the introduction of task forces
to investigate triad related
offences (paragraphs 6.65 to 6.67
of the document);
(v)
stricter penalties for illegal
gambling (paragraphs 6.98 and
6.99 of the document). The
Working Group on Gangs of the
Fight Crime Committee has
recently made recommendations
which will be put to the
Executive Council shortly for
advice;
