ATTORNEY GENERAL'S VISIT TO WASHINGTON: 29 JUNE 2 JULY

Sir Michael Havers, the Attorney General, will visit Washington from 29 June to 2 July, where he will hold talks with amongst others, the US Attorney General, Mr Ed Meese and Judge Sofaer, State Department Legal Advisers.

2.

The Attorney General's Office have asked us to provide detailed briefs on the following subjects:-

Arms Control, particularly ABMT and Article X UK/US Extradition Treaty and

(RID)

International Fund

ICJ, Nicaragua

Libya: particularly proposed US sanctions

MLAT

(MCAD)

(ERD)

(ERD)

Unitary Taxation

(ERD)

(MAED)

Anti Trust

EC/US Trade

South Africa: sanctions

(ECD(E))

(SAfD)

3. Briefs should be in final form, please, with two copies. Top copies should be on blue crested ("Points to make") and white ("Background"), headed as this minute and not numbered. The Attorney General's Office have asked for the briefs by COP Friday 20 June. I would therefore be grateful for all contributions by close of play on Thursday 19 June please. There may, of course, be a need to update them in the follow- ing week to take account of any developments; the Attorney General does not travel until 29 June.
