CANF VISITS (4) & (5) 18TH NOVEMBER to 20TH NOVEMBER 1925

Kampuchean Border

Kao-I-Dan/Site 2 & 3

For this visit I am most grateful to Jack Dunford (Church of Christ in Thailand) who arranged passes and provided transport to and from Aranyapathet (over 600 km return). Also, we were given trans, ort to Lavo-i-ban, 30 23 vhy, one to Jite 2/site 3, some 100 km ane.. vey DT UDAL In ice, on the secon.... day” „ayne Jurt.right, a fluent Khmer speaker of UNBRO, was invaluable in showing us round Site 2.

Site 2

There are a large number of agencies working in the 'glamorous border area'. Programmes are fairly extensive. In Khao-I-Dan security was tight, not much opportunity.

In Site 2, once again, some 37 Volags working there. However, I was interested in the work done by the Khmer Womens Association who could benefit from donations of exercise books/material for sewing classes etc.

We met an interesting group of Vietnamese Hilltribe, the Dega - four tribes in all a similar case to that of the Karens in Burma. There were 190 people in all 16 family units an interesting group worth maintaining an interest. The Khmer mostly wish to return to Kampuchea should the Vietnamese leave but not before.
