PWP Item No. 19TH - Upgrading and Dualling of Connaught Road and

Ancillary Roadworks - Rumsey Street Flyover

Reference is made to G.N. 210 published in the Government Cazette No. 3/1936. We formally lodge our objection to the captioned PKP Item.

Your Plan Nos. 5245, B5247, WH5248, HU5249 and HH5250 and Drawing Nos. HE5251 and HH5252 show that the right turn from Gilman Street to Connaught Road Central will be banned. It will have serious adverse effect on our existing Jubilee Street Jordan Road Vehicular Ferry Services.

At present 4,800 vehicles per day or about 60% CIOSS harbour vehicles travelling between Jordan Road and Jubilee Street arise from the Western District. Vehicles arriving from Kowloon now use the Gilman Street junction to turn right into Connaught Road Central for Western District. Under your proposed chime, they are not allowed to turn right at Gilman Street. All these vehicles including heavy goods vehicles will have to first proceed east and then west at Pedder Street which is presently extremely congested. Although an under pass will be built at Pedder Street and west bound vehicles

allowed are

to turn round there, the

arrangement is unsatisfactory. West bound traffic leaving Jubilee Street Vehicular Ferry Pier at Harbour View Street junction have to weave two lanes before they can reach Connaught Road Central and Pedder Street Junction for a u-turn.
