Alter & blef introduction by Mr. K.C. Ching on the justification for this footbridge project, Mr. T.W. Ng explained that the purpose of the meeting was to answer any queries Messrs Ho might have regarding their objection to the said works and their right to compensation, if any, under the Roads (Works, Use and Compensation) Ordinance.

Mr. T.W. Ng,referring to drawing No. HH 4535, explained that the southern staircase of the footbridge was not so close to their property that it would block its entire ground and first floor from the main road, as alleged in the objector's letter to the Secretary for Lands and Mrr dated 8th October 1985.

With regard to Messrs. Ho's concern about the nuisance, noise and air pollution that might be created during construction, Mr. T.W. Ng explained that Government's Contractor undertaking the works would be instructed to take all necessary steps to minimise any disturbance.

The alleged possible drop in property and rental valus for the premises in question was discussed at great length. Ms. Monita Leung said that according to her experience, the property and rental value depended, among other things, on the location and pattern of pedestrian flows. The footbridge,

in its designed layout, would channelise pedestrians, including NTR Commuters to and from Causeway Bay Station, to passing the front of the shop. This might in turn enhance the property value.
