Experts are satisfied with the

construction works of the Daya Bay

Nuclear Power Plant. The opposition

of the people of Hongkong could

be treated as a reminder

that management of the nuclear

power plant should be closely monitored

yesterday.

The three-day nuclear power seminar concluded at Shenzhen

The experts who had attended the seminar expressed satisfaction

with the construction works of the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant.

People attending the seminar included over ten experts from

Beijing, Guangzhou, Hongkong and Shenzhen. They had listened to the detailed

introduction of the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant, gone to the site of the nuclear power plant for inspection, and held seminar discussions.

Professor Y.W. CHAN of the Physics Department, Faculty of

Science of the Chinese University of Hongkong said the nuclear technology

exhibition jointly held in Hongkong by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Association and the Chinese Nuclear Association was a great success. 80,000

people visited the exhibition within two weeks. It enabled people of Hongkong to have a better understanding of the nuclear industry and begin to change

their attitude towards the nuclear power plant. They were no longer

affected by fear as they had been before.

According to Professor Chan, that some people of Hong Kong

oppose the nuclear power plant is mainly because they think mainland China is incapable in management. And, this is the conclusion they have reached because they know hotel management in mainland China is inefficient. Though

this conclusion is quite unilateral, it is hoped mainland China will

improve as soon as possible to reduce the worry in the mind of the people

of Hongkong.
