The Legco group would also seek more information from the Chinese authorities about the terms of reference and membership of the advisory
body.
Sing Tao Jih Pao reported that the Legco group would seek to establish contacts with Chine through the Government or the HKNIC.
Most media reports said that members of the group would visit the Daya Bay site in the middle of next month.
Convenor of the group, Wong Po-yan, told reporters that the Government's report on safety and tariff arrangements for the Daya Bay plant was not discussed at the meeting as most members had not finished reading it.
Mr Wong said he was personally satisfied with the report as it had provided some basic information about the plant.
Deputy convenor, Chung Pui-lam, said the Government had done its best to provide necessary information in the report. He said his group was concerned whether the Chinese authorities would request the International Atomic Energy Agency to help supervising the construction, maintenance and operation of the plant.
In other developments, some papers reported that the HKNIC yesterday issued a statement to clarify reports on a huge discrepancy of $16 billion in savings from the plant in the projections made by China Light and the Lazard Brothers.
A managing director of the HKNIC, Steven Poon, said that the saving of $14 billion estimated by the Lazard Brothers was calculated on a discounted cash basis while the $30 billion saving projected by China Light was worked out on an undiscounted cash basis.
He added that both projections were made on a different time basis and therefore, it was not appropriate to compare them directly.
A China News Service report released in Peking yesterday said that about 80 per cent of the US$1.6 billion insurance premium on the Daya Bay plant were sub-contracted to overseas insurance companies, several papers reported.
The HK Standard, in a front page article, quoted Legco member Dr Conrad Lam as describing as "tricky" figures provided by China Light on the amount the Daya Bay plant was expected to save for HK electricity
consumers.
