We had a full day of meeting on 18th September with Mr.
ZHOU Ping, Chinese Vice Minister for Nuclear Industry and
officials of the Ministry. The General Manager of the GNPJVC was
also present. A list of the officials present are at Annex C. During the 5 1/2 hours of meeting we discussed with the Chinese
officials all the 30 observations made in the LegCo Nuclear
Report. Mr ZHOU Ping also spoke on China's energy policy and the need for China to develop nuclear power along the coastal regions
in south-eastern China.

On 19th September, we had a 2 1/2 hours meeting with Mr
ZHANG Yuman, Deputy Director of the National Nuclear Safety Administration of China and other officials from the
Administration. A list of the officials are at Annex D. At this meeting we were given a briefing on the organisation and work of the National Nuclear Safety Administration, which included the setting of nuclear safety regulations and their enforcement through licensing and inspection. The observations made in the LegCo Nuclear Delegations Report were also discussed.
