modification of existing plants to reduce the build-up of pressure to a safe level, where necessary, inside the containment building in case of a severe accident. This is done by means of a controlled sand filter system, the usefulness of which is recognized by IAEA; (Ref : 2.1.16; 3.1.15)

all improvements developed for control room design as a result of the Three Mile Island accident have been incorporated in the design for the Daya Bay Plant; (Ref: 2.1.18)
