The method of safety analysis that will be used for the Guangdong Nuclear Power Station will draw on the experience existing in other countries at the time licensing undertaken in Guangdong. At the present time it is envisaged that the method adopted will mainly be based on a Design Basis Accident (DBA) approach, with use of the Event or Fault Tree Analysis method to give additional verification that there will be no unacceptable risks to the environment. All the potential reactor vendors should be capable of supplying plant to meet the required safety standards and will be able to assist GPC and CLP to prepare the necessary safety documents.

The joint utility will take responsibility for the safety of the nuclear power station under the guidance and inspection of the relevant authorities of the People's Republic of China.
