Visit to Hong Kong by Dr Stuart Holland, MP
Thank you for reporting on the visit of Dr Stuart Holland. We have written to the Deputy Chief Whip, Norman Hogg, to register our concern. A copy of our letter is attached.
2.
As you say in your memo, the visits programme of HKG is well known to MPs. Normally, they would give advance notice to us or the FCO. In most cases there is adequate time to arrange a programme properly. I hope that our letter to Norman Hogg will prevent a recurrence of unexpected visits, and will keep you informed of any names which Norman Hogg passes to us for the summer recess.
3.
As regards the possibility of Dr Holland making a sponsored visit, I should point out that he has not been recommended to us, and for the moment, is not a candidate. However, should he visit Hong Kong again we will recommend a short programme, if one is requested.
