Visit to China, Hong Kong and Thailand
The Secretary of State was very grateful for Mr Renton's account of his visit to the Far East (Mr Renton's minute of 29 January).
The Secretary of State has commented that Mr Renton offers prudent advice on several important and difficult subjects concerning Hong Kong and Peking.
The Secretary of State also thinks that Mr Renton's words about EC/ASEAN relations (Mr Renton's para 15) are very wise, and that these meetings can be used to promote our own bilateral interests.
