Mr. LIU Wen commented upon the increasing incidence of frauds perpetrated by people from Hong Kong on business agencies in China with whom they had joint ventures or commercial dealings. He stressed the seriousness with which the Chinese Government regarded these matters and requested assistance from the Hong Kong authorities in investigating such cases, bringing offenders to justice and returning proceeds of such frauds to China. During a visit to CCB opportunity was taken to discuss specific cases of interest to both sides.

Commissioner of Police invited the Chinese side to provide details of the sort of frauds being perpetrated in China by overseas business men. he reiterated the legal difficulties experienced in Hong However, Kong in arresting offenders and recovering proceeds of offences committed in China.

This is a matter of particular concern to the Chinese authorities and they will be eager to have wholehearted support from Hong Kong in the investigation of such cases.
