Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant
Take very seriously great public concern in Hong kong over safety of Daya Bay. As you know, representations to
Chinese at highest level to urge them to pay utmost attention to safety regime.
2. Hope that recent visit to UK and France by Mr Yaxley [Hong Kong Secretary for Economic Services] and forthcoming overseas visits by UMELCO members will help to allay Hong
Kong people's fears.
3. Your reporting and recommendations read very closely by Ministers. As we see it, present priority is to give fullest possible backing to Hong Kong Government in present difficult situation: to help you reassure Hong Kong people.
