small investment projects. Preferential treatment is also

being extended to labour intensive enterprises which are

export-oriented.

Visible trade between Hong Kong and China

17.

China remained Hong Kong's largest trading

partner in the second quarter of 1986. Total visible

trade between Hong Kong and China, at HK$33,527 million,

increased by 10% over the second quarter of last year.

For the first half of 1986 as a whole, total visible trade

between Hong Kong and China rose by 3% to HK$59,868

million.

At present, only the first phase of the airport construction

a 2,800 m runway to accommodate Boeing 737s and Trident planes is being considered by the State Council. The construction of the second and third phase will be seriously considered only when future business conditions prove to be promising.
