Chinese BLDC member Lu Ping: There had been a suggestion that a special group should be set up under the NPC Standing Committee to study any proposals on amendment to the Basic Law. This suggestion will have to be further considered.

Chinese BLDC member Shao Tianren: There is a need for the relationship between the Basic Law and the Chinese Constitution to be clearly spelt out. Various organisations in China, like HK people, should abide by the Basic Law. Violation of the Basic Law will be regarded as violations of the laws of China.

BLDC secretary-general Li Hou: It will not be necessary for the Basic Law to spell out the role of the Chinese Communist Party in HK after 1997. Activities of the Communist Party in HK after 1997 will remain as they are now. If there is a need to stipulate in the Basic Law that the
