5. WECO Textiles Manufacturers Ltd.

(Serial No. 5, para. 7 of Memorandum)

Weco Textiles Manufacturers Ltd. is the current tenant of Lot 719RP in

DD 450 which it is proposed to resume under the scheme. The tenancy agreement

with Tai Loong Weaving and Dyeing Factory Ltd., the registered owner, commenced

on 1 March 1984 and is for a period of 3 years, expiring on 28 February 1987.

The company has not in fact objected to the works, merely advised of its

intention to lodge claims for compensation on the basis of the resumption

proceeding. Any claims submitted will be considered under the Roads (Works, Use

and Compensation) Ordinance.

After consultation with CO/KT and C for L it has been established that

approximately 60 workers would be affected by the resumption were it to

proceed. C for L also advised that within the manufacturing industries in the

Tsuen Wan and Kwai Chung Districts there have been an average of 1500 vacancies

per month during the second quarter of 1986. Employment opportunities for the

affected workers therefore appear reasonable.
