3. LEUNG Ping & FUNG Lin-tai (Owners of Electrical & Chinese Herb Shops resp.)
(Serial No. 3, para. 7 of Memorandum)
This objection is primarily concerned with the location of the
pedestrian ramp in Kwong Fai Circuit leading to the proposed elevated walkway
and its closeness to the objectors' shops which it is alleged would adversely
affect their business. At a meeting with Mr LEUNG Ping, together with
representatives from DC/TW & PM/TW, it was emphasised that ramps had to be
provided in order to cater for the infirm and disabled, which therefore
precluded the provision of a staircase.
It was also pointed out that the configuration of the ramps was such
as to cause the minimum visual intrusion to shopkeepers and the enhanced
pedestrian circulation in the vicinity of the shop should add to rather than
detract from his present trade. No amendments to the scheme are therefore
proposed.
