The Fight Crime Committee endorsed the recommendations of the Standing Committee on Unruly and Delinquent Behaviour in Schools relating to student guidance and counselling. The Education Department has been implementing these recommendations and the Standing Committee continues to meet bi-monthly and to monitor the incidence of unruly and delinquent behaviour of students. chapter reports on the activities of the Standing Committee during the period under review.

In April 1984, the Fight Crime Committee considered the Standing Committee's report on the effectiveness of existing services to combat problems
The of unruly and delinquent behaviour in schools. Committee endorsed recommendations which were related to student guidance and counselling, subject to the availability of resources. The following progress has been made on the implementation of the major recommendations of the report.
Pamphlet on social and educational services
8.3
The pamphlet in both English and Chinese on the social and educational services provided by the various government departments to help children with behaviour problems, has been distributed to schools for the information of teachers and parents.
Remedial teaching
8.4
In order to have a thorough evaluation on remedial teaching, it has been decided that an in-depth inspection should be carried out in a representative sample of schools, after which a report would be compiled.
Courses related to counselling in Colleges of Education
8.5
Through the formal curriculum, courses related to counselling and guidance are being offered in the departments of Education, Economic and Public Affairs, and Social Studies in the Colleges of Education. Since Education is a compulsory course,
