The Commissioner of Police wrote to the major insurance companies and to the Insurance Council requesting that they give advice and stipulate security requirements to shop owners. favourable reply was received from the Council.

The working group stressed the need for crime prevention officers to be trained overseas and for a general increase in the resources available for crime prevention work. But no overseas training or an increase in resources in this area had been possible for 1985/86.
FUTURE ACTION

The Fight Crime Committee agreed in July 1985 that the position should be reviewed in six months.
