Mr Ian Macpherson, OBE, JP
Aged 56. Joined the Hong Kong civil service
in May 1962 after service in Tanganyika. He has held
a number of senior posts, including Commissioner for
Transport, Director of Administration and Management
Services, Regional Secretary, New Territories, and
Commissioner, Assessment Office. Mr Macpherson has
been in his present post of Secretary for Transport
since February 1985. He was promoted to his present
rank of Secretary, Government Secretariat in January
1986.
Mr Harnam Grewal, ED, JP
Aged 48.
Joined the civil service in September
1962. Mr Grewal's service includes appointments as
District Officer Tai Po, Deputy Secretary for the
Environment, Director of New Territories Services,
and as

has been in his present post of Commissioner of Customs
and Excise since June 1984, and was promoted to his
present rank of Administrative Officer Staff Grade A
in September 1985.
