CO-ORDINATING COMMITTEE FOR SERVICES TO DISPLACED PERSONS IN THAILAND

I enclose a copy of the minutes of the last CCSDPT meeting held on 8 February 1985. As you know I would probably have attended had I been in post.
2. In addition to the monthly meeting, CCSDPT provides donor Embassies with 4 copies of the CCSDFT directory; an invitation to the annual conference and copies of other ad hoc publications free of charge. We have, however, now received a letter from the committee requesting an annual contribution of Baht 10,000 (Baht 29 approx £1). At present the CCSDPT is funded by annual subscription fees from each voluntary agency of Baht 24,000. The Committee feels unable to raise the subscription fee as to do so would risk losing some member agencies, thus depriving the poorer ones of assistance. Similar letters have been sent to each donor Embassy.
3. I find the monthly meetings quite useful. As you know the meetings are nearly always attended by Kunugi and by UNBRO, ICRC and UNHCR representatives and the detailed information provided can save me a fair amount of "leg-work" in obtaining information about refugee movements and the border in general. Moreover, the 6CSDPT Annual Conference is often the forum in which Prasong and others choose to make policy statements.
4. The Embassy has no budget for the requested Baht 10,000 and

I wonder whether you could approach Finance Department to discover whether there is some way in which we could meet the CCSDPT's request. If not, then I regret I will be not be able to attend either the monthly meetings or the Annual Conference.
