Dear Mr Miller,
Entry into France by BDTCs of Hong Kong
Thank you for your letter of 2 May.-

I regret I have been unable to find in our records any letter from the French Consulate written on 10 August 1983.
Although we have had a number of discussions with members of the French Consulate on this subject,
I note they have not been prolific letter writers, however, that Paris Note Verbale No. 268 of 29 November 1983 refers to a letter dated 10 August 1983 from the French Consul in Hong Kong to us. I should be grateful if Paris would let us have a copy of the letter (see J F Gahan's letter to Richard Hoare of Hong Kong Dept of 29 November 1983).
We received official confirmation that visas for visit of less than three months would not be required verbally. I enclose copies of my correspondence on this subject as well as Richard Margolis' teleletter of 2 February 1983 to J F Gahan.
In August 1983, we were in the middle of a cross between Mrs CHAN IP Yuk-sim and the French Consulate.
French Consulate that The only written confirmation from the
fire
we
have been able to find from our records is Mr Travert's letter of 8 December 1983 to Mrs Chan which I also enclose and my correspondence with the French Consulate last December.
