This change in U.S. visa policy toward Hong Kong is part of a general worldwide

American effort to facilitate travel on a reciprocal basis, as well as to reduce the

workloads of U.S. consular officers abroad.

Persons who now hold valid B-1 or B-2 visas should note the following:

The Consulate's visa section will not approve indefinite validity visas to persons

who already hold valid U.S. nonimmigrant visas unless those visas expire in less than

four months.
